What if we told you there were numerous remote job opportunities in the tech industry?

Has it always been your lifelong dream to be able to nonchalantly relax on your couch as you earn a living?

It sounds great, in theory, but perhaps you’ve come to think that this dream is just too good to be true. You’ve probably just come to accept the doctrine that you have to physically drive to work every morning at 7am, only to come back home at 6pm.

What if we told you that this entire notion is a misconception? What if we were to tell you that you can, indeed, work remotely from the comfort of your couch permanently? What if we were to tell you that there are a number of lucrative remote career opportunities that are ripe for the taking?

One of the most attractive selling points for learning how to code is the “transportability” of coding knowledge. In other words: you can work from anywhere. As long as you have a computer and Wi-Fi, you’re set. Many people aren’t aware of the number of remote jobs, freelance work, and business startups that are available for those who fulfill one simple requirement: being able to code.

The following are just a few of the job positions that are available on a remote basis:

1. Front-End Developer

2. Web Developer

3. JavaScript Developer

4. WordPress Developer

5. Python Developer

6. Ruby Developer

7. Web Designer

8. UX Designer

9. Visual Designer

Web developers typically meet with their clients to discuss the needs of a website and use their coding abilities to translate these needs into solutions. They are also responsible for design elements of a web page, and use a reiterative testing process to make sure a page is functional and efficient. Web designers use code to combine text and visual elements, such as videos, images, and audio clips, to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional webpage. UX designers are responsible for maintaining branding for a product, and use iterative processes to ensure that its design and layout are usable. The estimated annual salaries for these positions can range anywhere from $70,000 – $111,000.

Many of these job positions can be acquired without a college degree in hand. Coding bootcamps and self-study methods can be sufficient for people who are willing to put in the time and the effort that it takes to master these technical skills. It won’t be easy, but it will definitely be worthwhile.

So…what’s the next step?

Assess your current obligations as well as your learning style. Maybe your primary commitment is to your full-time job. You don’t see how a switch in industries would be the most practical move for you at this point in time. Or perhaps you’re interested in taking on a career full stack web development, but you don’t see how you can manage to teach yourself to code with just a few online resources.

Skillspire is an online coding bootcamp that is taught by dedicated instructors who are also employed by big name tech companies like Google and Microsoft. While similar coding schools can cost upwards of $10,000, all of Skillspire’s courses start from $2,499. We’re a coding class near you–wherever you happen to be. Our courses are offered online and in-person at our Seattle and DFW locations to suit your needs and learning style. Lastly, our students do not enter the industry with a blind eye; we provide resume workshops, mock interviews, and networking opportunities so that you have a realistic idea of what to expect once you graduate.

So what’s stopping you from working from your couch?
